[Friday, March 23rd, 2012 - The USPW Ameri-Dome Washington DC][The following was filmed after United States Professional Wrestling’s first official show, Freedom. The shot fades into the locker room of Robert Divine. He is slouched against the cold wall of the locker room, sitting on a wooden bench. His best friend Ian Wright stands above him, speaking sternly and slowly.] Wright: “Robert, listen to me - it’s your first match back in two years. You went toe to toe with Cajun Flames, one of the most promising wrestlers in the business today. Once you find your rhythm, and get your head on straight we’ll put this loss in the past and truly start to get things moving again.” [Divine looks up at Ian and nods his head in agreement. Beads of sweat drip down his bald forehead, and he continues to listen intently to what Wright has to say.] Wright: “And let me tell you, it’s not going to be easy, but you have never traveled down the simple road in your entire life. We’re going to get back in the gym, refocus, retool and get you back into the best shape of your life. You are Robert Divine. You can be the best in the business.”
Wright: “I believe in you. And it appears as if the fans have started to believe in you once again. The way you handled yourself after the match was truly honorable, and it made me proud to be your friend. The fans were chanting your name, what more could you ask for?”
[Divine finally interjects, with a look of confidence on his face.]
Divine: “Ian, you’re right. I gave the fans one hell of a show, and at the end of the day that is what is important. Mark my words, from this point on every match will be for the fans in attendance. I couldn’t have gotten this far in my career without them, and I surely will need them to progress any further. Tonight was a wake up call. It’s just what I needed to get my head on straight. I must regain my focus, and realize the true reason why I put my body on the line each and every night… it’s not for the glory, and it‘s not to win championships… but it’s for hearing one thousand strong chanting and cheering my name.”
[Divine takes a deep breath.]
Divine: “And like you said, it’s not going to come easy. But, I want this more than anyone in this promotion. I want to make a difference in the wrestling world once again. So, it’s time to learn from tonight… and get focused on next Friday.”
[Wright smiles.]
Wright: “Then what are we waiting for, Robert?”
[The two shake hands firmly, as the scene cuts away.] ----
[March 25th 2012]
[Promo time.]
[Robert Divine stands in front of the camera with his arms crossed, and a smug look plastered on his face. He nods his head methodically, as the bright lights glare off his bald head. It appears as if he has just finished a training session, wearing black wrestling tights and no shirt.]
Divine: “As most of you know, for the last two years I was working as a professional wrestling trainer in my very own gym. Sure, I gained much satisfaction and enjoyment from teaching and molding the future generations. But, it just wasn’t the same.”
[He pauses, opening up his stance.]
Divine: “When I got back into the ring on the twenty-third to face Cajun Flames the satisfaction and enjoyment that I gained is almost indescribable. Millions of emotions surged through my body that day - and all I know is that it was great to be back inside the squared circle. Hearing the roar of the crowd, experiencing the adrenaline rush of battle, feeling the spotlights glaring off my body. It was special, and DAMN, it feels great to be back.”
[Divine triumphantly pumps his fist towards the camera.]
Divine: “Granted I may have lost my first contest, but I’m using that as a learning experience and I plan on growing from my mistakes. A big congratulations to Cajun Flames is in order, but now it is time to focus on this upcoming card. I have been matched up against Jasper Locke, another man coming off a loss from the last event. God knows that we’ll both be hungry for a victory, so it surely will be an interesting challenge. But, this guy does not plan on letting another victory slip through his grasp.”
[He points dramatically at his chest, referring to himself.]
Divine: “Now Locke surely seems like an interesting opponent - a man that is apparently blessed with mysophobia. I’ll be honest I’ve never gone up against a man that is afraid of germs, dirt and disease, but I surely will not let this detour me from getting the three count come Friday. Because I plan on coming out there and giving it everything that I have. The fans want to see some serious wrestling action, and that’s exactly what I plan on delivering. So, Jasper your latex gloves are unfortunately going to have to take a backseat to what the fans want…”
[Divine once again pauses.]
Divine: “Friday is right around the corner, and I’ve done my homework on you, Jasper. You’re certainly not new to the game and you surely understand the importance of this match. A match that will define our legacies here in United States Professional Wrestling… we have both worked hard to get to this point, but there can only be one winner. I plan on giving it my 100%, and I have no intentions of holding back - so I do apologize in advance if my hairy, sweaty chest rubs against your bare face… and I do apologize in advance if I rub your head against the infested wrestling mat. But, I’m here to put on a show for the fans, and I’m doing whatever it takes to come out the victor.”
Divine: “So best of luck, and may the best man win.”
[Fade out.] ----
