The scene opened with Phantom sitting in his hotel room with his feet up on the short table in front of him. His hands crossed in front of him and his eyes shut. His silver grey hair a complete mess and dark rings under his eyes. It was clearly evident that he had not been sleeping over the past couple of days. No one had spoken with him since the show when he had to be brought into the back after his match at Freedom.
**Freedom-Aftermath**
Phantom continued to stare down the Labyrinth trying to guess their next move. He had figured that Crysis was not going to compete by himself and would much rather have his teammates in his corner. Phantom however had underestimated how much they would actually interfere in the match. While he was able to exact some measure of revenge it was far from what he actually wanted. Especially after he was dropped head first onto the steel steps.
Phantom would be the first to move as he rolled out of the ring and walked into the back with his title in one hand and the other on his head trying to keep the throbbing pain to a minimum to no avail. The ground wobbled and shook in front of him as the world spun. He knew that feeling all too well what the feeling was.
*Add another concussion to my ever growing list of injuries that I have incurred.*
As he passed through the curtains doctors ushered him into a medical area where they ran some very preliminary tests to determine the extent of the damage done to Phantom. While the doctors works CEO Cloe walked in dressed in a suit with a mild look of concern on her face.
Cloe- He going to be able to wrestle for the next show? I have already made the main event for next week and I don’t feel like changing it now.
Phantom slowly looked over to the new management that he was now working under.
*She is just like the rest of them. All they care about is there headlines not about their wrestlers.*
Doctor- It appears that he may be suffering from a slight concussion but nothing that would side line for more than a few days. He got very lucky.
Phantom shot a look at the doctor and then back at Cloe.
Cloe- Good. Next week then you are in a match, a six man tag team match. The Labyrinth versus AJ Johnson, Brian Magnum and yourself. It should be a good show seeing as how you all essentially just put it on for our crowd.
Phantom rolled his eyes as he watched one of the new upper managers walked off with a strut to her step. He leaned back as the doctor continued to check him out. He was briefly advised not to sleep for the next five hours in case the concussion was worse than expected.
**Hotel Room**
Phantom continued to sit in silence in his hotel room. Ever since he had got hit on the head he had not had a peaceful night of sleep. Instead he had been cursed with only being able to sleep two hours at the max at one time. It was beginning to take a toll on him, he had begun to hallucinate and was becoming ever increasingly irritable.
*Just a little sleep that is all that I ask for.*
However as he tried to fall asleep his mind would not quiet long enough to relax. His thoughts were cluttered with the memories of his match with Crysis and how close he was to choking the life out of his miserable body. So close before the rest of the stable stormed the ring and rescued their endangered teammate. There were calls for him to be stripped of the title for his actions against Crysis but management had beaten back the calls and defended his actions.
*For once management is good for something.*
Then there were his tag team partners AJ Johnson and Brian Magnum. While he had teamed with AJ Johnson and they worked outstandingly together he noticed a tension in the ring that he had not before. Since dropping the 6-man Tag Titles both went on to capture singles titles. He didn’t expect to receive his help when he was getting beaten on by Labyrinth. It was no doubt due to the fact that Phantom all but owes the World title to him for beating down Mike C and Brian Magnum and placing him on Mike C for the pin. Something that was not lost on Phantom, he knew that a match was going to be coming in the future and only one man would walk away.
And Phantom could not forget the bible toting, God preaching, public praying Brian Magnum. Phantom was not entirely familiar with his skills in the ring but based off of what he had seen thus far he was definitely someone to keep an eye on. Especially since there was almost a certainty that the main event would be cast Phantom vs. Brian Magnum for the World Title. While he would be a dangerous opponents Phantom was put in the ring with much more dangerous men. But the goal of this week was not to beat down Brian Magnum but to work with him.
*Great…priesty is in my corner.*
What worried Phantom though out of the entire situation was that there were rumors floating around that AJ Johnson and Brian Magnum were preparing for the fact that Phantom may be the reason why they lost the match this week, the reason being that Phantom was not able to keep his emotions in line.
*Fools…if we lose it won’t be because of my emotions but rather the fact that I won’t have slept at all.*
Then he experience a cold wave pass through his body making his hair stand on end. He could have sworn that he heard whispers all around him but knew that no one was there. Phantom refused to open his eyes and confront what might be there.
*I just want to sleep. Is that so much to ask for?*
The scene fades to black as Phantom tries to doze off to sleep but is unable to.
