OOC: The predictions are for fun, and for character. No offense meant by any of them.
We see a TV screen within the frame. The Shockwave match is displayed in highlighted form, followed by Matt Hawk's latest interview. The camera pans over to the Predator, looking on with a truly amused look on his face. He is in a studio, sipping on a bottle of Michelob, dressed in his finest apparel, with his managers by his side.
Johnny breaks the silence. "Boy, for a guy who ends every interview by trying to stalk away, 'no more questions!' like a badass, he sure talks a lot when the mic is in front of him."
Predator chuckles, and fiddles with is tie. "He's a motormouth. So is Idol. You get used to it, after awhile. They'll never say anything in 2 minutes they can say in ten."
He rewinds the tape a bit, and pauses in the middle of a Matt Hawk rant. "Look, guys. I think I made him angry." They all laugh.
Lana recovers, and bites her bottom lip. "Won't that, you know...Make him want to hurt you worse? This is a No Disqualifications Match...There is a whole lot he can do to you in there."
The Predator downs the rest of his beer. "I'm hoping I've made him mad enough to do something wild. It wouldn't be the kind of match I want it to be if he wasn't good and pissed off."
The camera pans to show the door to a recording studio. Another man in a suit peaks his head out of the door, and calls out in a soft voice, "Hey, big guy? We're ready to go!"
Predator nods, and places his hands on his managers' shoulders. "I'm gonna go do this thing, sit tight for a bit. We'll go do wings or something afterwards."
---
We see both the Predator, and the other man sitting at a table with headphones on, in front of microphones. It is the taping of the Wrestlinghub.com Podcast, and the host is the independent interview icon, Lyle Weathers.
Lyle opens up the conversation "To all our viewers out there, I bid you a heartfelt hello, and a welcome to the 214th Wrestling Hub Podcast. I am your host, Lyle Weathers, and with us today is USPW star and wrestling legend, Dylan The Predator Schmeyer."
The big man smirks. "Happy to be here, Lyle."
Lyle begins questioning, his poise and experience as a host showing immediately. 'First of which, Mr. Schmeyer, we've got the card for this week's Freedom on the board up there. Could you give us your thoughts on each match?"
The Predator whistles. "Wow, you cut to the chase, man. Let me see..."
"Cameron Cash is a very good young wrestler, tons of talent, and that Trent character is somewhat of a savante; Very little technique, seems to participate in every match stoned out of his gourd, but still manages to make some stuff happened in there. I haven't seen a ton of Erick Stone and Matt Steel...I have to pick the team with Cash to win it. I have a lot of respect for Cameron, and I think he'll find a way to make this happen, and Trent is one hell of a wildcard."
"I gotta start out talking about this next match by just putting this out there...I am a huge Izzy Insane fan, and he got screwed last week. I've won a title and had it stripped from my grasp before, and that is something that no professional who risks life and limb like Izzy should have to experience. Mike C is, of course, Classy, and a big talent, and Decca, from experience, can scrap like a son of a gun...Savage is a big freak, and I know from experience those are dangerous. But I have to say, I pick Izzy to earn his rematch here. He's the uncrowned TV champ, and I think he'll find will himself to victory. Probably with something jaw-dropping, I don't want to miss that one."
"Can't say I'd pick too many men to beat Mike Mahoney. I don't know that Mischoff will find a guy who can just walk in on short notice and take that belt. Bank on Mahoney retaining to meet Izzy is some crazy match later on in June."
"Talk about a crazy match for the main event. Phanton, Magnum, and AJ Johnson against the Labyrinth for those 6-Man Tag Titles. On one hand, the champ and two of his leading contenders together is a dream team, so much talent. On the other, you have a seasoned six man squad, and I know for a fact that the Gravedigger is a very formidable wrestler. In the end, though, I've got to pick the guys who've been there before. It's tough to work as a unit, and I think that the Labyrinth will have that extra synergy needed to retain there titles, but this is gonna be the match of the night. Outside of mine, of course."
Lyle nods, smiling. "And what about your match, Mr. Predator? Any thoughts?"
Predator grins. "Of course I think I'm going to win. But I'm not gonna make any big predictions. I'll show Matt Hawk a modicum of respect and do what I plan to do to him in the ring, rather than talk about it."
Lyle laughs, and, with an oily ease, slides back into his host mode. "Hawk has come out hard to discredit you the last couple of days. He's tried to paint your match 6 years ago as one you didn't deserve to win, and tried to paint you as overrated, and a pretender. Care to respond?"
The Predator nods. "Hawk certainly likes to talk a whole lot, about a whole lot of subjects. Fact of the matter is, this is the business. You run your mouth, you screw people over behind the scenes, and you pay the piper at some point. I have no specific idea what went on between those guys and Jamie McKnight, but he came running over to my side with absolutely no prodding. He made his presence known ringside, did his damage, and I won the match by capitalizing on it. In wrestling, we call that karma. I've won plenty of matches despite outside interference, which is something Matt Hawk failed to do against me. Call it what you will, I'll call it a W, and that's how it went in the books."
He takes a pull from a glass of water. "As to the overrated and the pretender part...Well, he'll have a chance to prove it in the ring. And when I beat his ass and pin him, 1,2,3, he'll probably still call me overrated. All the way to the hospital."
Lyle fires another one. "Matt Hawk is a big, strong, seasoned former champion. How to you plan on dealing with him?"
Predator responds just as quickly, "By being the exact same thing."
Lyle laughs. "Fans are incredibly excited about this being a No Disqualifications Match. What does No DQ, mean to you?"
Predator thinks for a second, then answers "It means no excuses. We can use anything we need to secure victory. Fight as hard as we are able, with whatever we are able to get a hold of. You lose a No DQ match, it's nobodies fault but your own. When I win, he won't shut up, but everything he says afterwards will look even more sour than it does now."
Lyle plows ahead. "One last question about USPW related matters; If you do overcome Matt Hawk, will you target his old colleague and your former rival, The Idol Max Prophet, as your next challenge?"
Predator coughs. "I'll leave that up to management. I will say that, as a former champion talking about other former champions, it would be an honor to face him in a match at some point. And because we're talking about the Idol, it would also be a pleasure."
Lyle chuckles, and plays a sound effect. "Alright, you know what that means, folks...Time to talk about our top 10 highlights of the week!"
------
We see Lana and Johnny, waiting out back of a building that is clearly the studio. Lana is smoking a cigarette, and she looks a bit nonplussed.
"Hey John...About 2006...When that other guy went off on Matt Hawk and Dylan just, let him...He just doesn't seem like that kind of guy."
John motions for a drag, and she gives it. He inhales deeply, and says, "Predator was a much, much more fiery guy back in the day. He can beat this guy without any help. Trust me."
Lana doesn't look too certain, but before she can respond, Predator exits the building. He wraps his arms around both their shoulders, and smiles. "Let's go get some food, huh?"
