The scene opens inside the conference room of the American Airlines Arena. A gang of reporters, photographers and camera operators have packed the giant conference room. The conference was scheduled for 10am EST but, as was the case yesterday, the speaker is 2 hours late. Reporters chomp away on sandwiches they have packed for lunch. No one wants to leave the room for fear they miss this golden opportunity. Someone has been sent out for pizza. The room is loud with conversation.
A makeshift stage is set up on one side of the room with the reporters and photographers gathered in front. A podium and a chair sit on top of the stage. Today, the USPW logo adorns the front of the podium and a giant Forsaken pay per view banner hangs on the wall behind.
At around 12:03pm EST, Peter Winkler walks into the room the same as yesterday only this time he is accompanied by none other than "The Idol" Max Prophet.
The Idol takes a seat in the chair to the right of the podium as Peter Winkler steps to the microphone.
Peter Winkler - Hello everyone. My name is Peter Winkler and I am the Executive Vice President of Wrestling Promotion for The Dynasty Worldwide Inc or D.W.I. and I represent my client seated to my left, Max Prophet. I would like to read from a prepared statement that I have written on behalf of my client and I will not be taking any questions at this time. Thank you.
Peter Winkler reaches inside his jacket pocket and pulls out a few sheets of paper. He takes a sip of water and begins...
Peter Winkler - (reading from prepared statement) The past 24 hours have been a whirlwind of controversy for my client and this is something he did not ask for however, he would like to clarify a few things for the fans of USPW, it's roster, staff, and wrestling fans all over the world.
After the great success of the 2005 DVD package "Because I Rule The Damn World," this summer, my client will be releasing a new 3 disc DVD/blu-ray set and his autobiography on the same day. The book and DVD set are meant to go hand in hand. They both currently share the working title, "Welcome to Beverly Hills, Motherfucker: The Life and Times of Max Prophet." Both will be released by USPW. The DVD will feature various matches as well as contain a 2 hour documentary.
The things I am about to address will be covered this summer on the DVD and in the book through greater detail.
My client would like it to be known that, as stated yesterday, he has signed a very lucrative deal with USPW. The length of the contract, terms, conditions, and monies I am not at liberty to discuss at this time. However, my client and Mr. Matt Mischoff were both very happy with the deal which also includes bonus money for PPV buys as well as guaranteed money and sharing in the Book/DVD package money. I cannot go into specifics of exact figures at this time.
However, as stated at yesterday's press conference, my client has not stated when he will make an appearance in a USPW ring. This is being worked out with the USPW staff and my client. My client will compete in USPW. When this will actually happen has yet to be determined but both my client and the USPW staff are talking, the talks are productive, and we could see my client compete sometime within the calendar year of 2012. At this point, I cannot give a firm date on when we will see my client physically at a USPW event.
My client is a part owner of the Formula 1 Red Bull Racing Team. This weekend, the team heads to the Grand Prix of Monaco at the south of France for a race scheduled on Sunday to be aired live on Speed channel at 8:00amEST so an appearance by my client at the USPW Forsaken Pay per view event is highly unlikely at this time. In fact, my client would like his fans to know he is not making any effort to be at the event. He doesn't care about the event. He thinks the card, to use his words, and I am quoting him here, quote "sucks...who in their right mind would spend money to watch Classy Mike C? Is that his name? Mikey C? Whatever. The card sucks." end quote.
More specifically, with regards to today, my client would like to address some of the topics that have been swirling this past 24 hours.
I will quote here, quote, "Predator...I call him Dylan...Dylan is full of shit. Dylan was a mid card jobber to the stars in FCW and admitted as much. Matt Hawk and I were being blamed for not putting over the up and coming guys so we took Dylan and Jamie McKnight and put them over. Both of them went on to become champions. Before that, they were curtain jerkers. I have never lost a 1 on 1 singles match by pinfall or submission in my entire career. Not to Dylan or anyone else. I liked Dylan. I thought he was talented. Personally, I thought he was a user. But that's par for the course in this industry. But, regardless, he's lying to the fans and to himself if he thought he did it on his own. Nobody does it on their own in this business. I'll address that more later. When Matt Mischoff closed the doors of FCW, myself and a group of investors started FCW Revolution. I contacted Dylan who, at the time, was FCW heavyweight champion. I asked him to join my promotion and bring the belt with him. He said he would. He owed me that much. He no showed like a punk. End of story. I never saw the guy again." end quote.
My client would also like to address Andrew Savage. And I am quoting here again, quote, "Who? What? Seriously, I don't know who in the hell this guy is. I really don't. Dale went off and started his own promotion called FCWF. All this information is on the internet. I'm not making this stuff up. Check the facts. Dale could never let FCW go. He was another jobber to the stars who couldn't get over. I never talked to the dude. He wanted to be the boss. He started FCWF. He asked me to join. I said I would. Then, he wanted to book me in matches against members of my own stable. I said no. I thought it was a dumb idea. I left. He continued to use my name. Anything The Idol did in FCWF was a complete fabrication made up by Dale. Lawyers got involved. It got nasty. I was in that promotion for maybe a week. The dude is off the reservation. He kept writing stories about me and I wasn't even there. Andrew Savage was in FCWF. So, I don't know who this guy is. I really don't. I have no history with this guy. I see that he is burying peoiple alive and torturing people at insane asylums and, well, I can only hope Mischoff or Cloe alert the proper authorities because the guy needs to be in prison. Or, maybe it's a work. I don't know. If it's a work, I can't believe Mischoff is airing that because it's fairly unbelievable." end quote
Finally, with regards to Matt Hawk, my client would like to say, and I am quoting here for the final time, quote, "I talk to Matt. He's a good friend of mine and a business associate in D.W.I. I don't have any idea about him joining USPW. I haven't asked him." end quote
With regards to Mr. Hawk, he has recorded a new shoot interview for RF Video which will address some of these topics and will air on the USPW YouTube channel prior to the Forsaken Pay per view.
Thank you. No questions at this time. Again, thank you.
The Idol rises from his chair, waves to reporters, and follows Peter Winkler off stage and through a private exit.
