Phantom vs Troy "The Baller" Franklin

[Phantom]

The scene opens as Phantom walks into a bustling room filled with staffers, assistants, makeup artists and a couple of producers. Phantom could see a female sitting in a chair opposite of an empty one with a couple of people around her doing her makeup and talking with her.

*No doubt briefing her on how she should talk with me. After all I can be a bit unpredictable. I think last time I did one of these sit down interviews I ended up taking out the entire room in a psychotic rage. I guess me and the cameras just don’t get along.*

A staffer noticed Phantom and ushered him over to the seat opposite of the woman. Instantly people began to flock around Phantom to try and apply makeup to his face. Phantom pulled his head away to look at the woman sitting across from him. She had her legs crossed in front of her; she wore a grey suit and had red hair that was pulled up into a bun.

Woman- It is a pleasure to sit down with you and have a conversation.

Phantom waived at the people buzzing around his head before answering.

Phantom- I wish it was in a more informal setting.

Phantom chuckled and he continued to frustratingly try to fight off the people around him. The woman across from him began to laugh and she waived to the people around her and they disappeared.

Woman- Depending on how this interview goes perhaps we could have that talk in a more informal setting.

Phantom smiled as he took in her beauty before getting hit in the face with some makeup that caused him to cough. Instantly Phantom began to swing his arms erratically around himself. The people buzzing around the USPW wrestler backed off a few steps before looking at the woman across from Phantom, she waived them away and soon they were all gone.

Phantom- Thank you for that.

Woman- They can be buzzards some times.

The two sat quietly before a producer signaled to the cameras to begin to record and instantly the woman sprang to life.

Woman- Welcome to Wrestlers Outside the Ring, my name is Circe and I will be your host for tonight’s broadcast. My guest tonight is USPW wrestler Phantom. It is a pleasure to talk with you tonight.

Phantom- As with you.

Woman- Now at Wrestlefest we saw you come up just short after all three of you, which is Mark Force, Mike C and yourself fell from the top of the steel cage. After which Mark Force is able to crawl over to you and cover you for the pin knocking you out of the match causing you to walk out of Wrestlefest without a title around your waist. Your thoughts on this?

A look of discomfort and disappointment spread across Phantom’s face as he rolled his head in a circle. Then he sighed before looking up at her.

Phantom- It is a huge disappointment. I had a two in three chance of walking out as a USPW singles champion and to begin what I feel could be a great way to lead USPW to the top of the wrestling world. But I was beaten and taken out of the match. Some think that I was taken out of the match even before it was started.

Circe- You are speaking about the attack on you by the USA before the match?

Phantom- Yeah…that…for which I was able to exact some revenge but it leads me to think that things are starting to come to a head…

Circe- What do you mean by that?

Phantom- I mean you will have to tune in Friday to find out what I mean by that.

Phantom let a smile slip slightly out by the corner of his mouth.

Circe- Speaking of Friday, you have a match against Troy “The Baller” Franklin who made a statement at Wrestlefest that he was being kept away from the USPW World title out of fear of him holding onto it for the remainder of his career. He is also coming off of a victory over one of you fellow 6-man tag team Champions, AJ Johnson. With all of this stacked before you what are your thoughts about your opponent for the match this Friday?

Phantom- My thoughts are this. Franklin has not beaten anyone of worth while he has been in USPW. He no doubt holds victories over the industries best and is a 13 time World Champion over countless different federations but so do I. I do not hold as many victories simply because my career has not nearly been as long. Add to the fact that his match with AJ Johnson was supposed to have the potential of stealing the show. It did not. Yeah he looked good but he also looked good against an AJ Johnson who seemed to be asleep on his feet and not worthy of being in the ring that night at all. But it has been assumed lately that I am some kind of gate keeper between the main event talent and the middle tier of USPW. I am not some man that lies down and takes a beating. No doubt Franklin is going to think that I am a pushover, I am going to go out there Friday night and show that Franklin is going to have fight in order to prove that he belongs at the very top of the company. And in order to get there he is going to have to go through my broken bloody body.

Circe- Strong words. Unfortunately, that is all the time we have today. This has been Wrestlers Outside the Ring. Until next time signing off.

Phantom waves to the camera and Circe signs off the broadcast with a smile. The fire in Phantom’s eyes dancing in the frame of the camera as the idea of making his way back up to the top of USPW flooded his mind.

The scene fades to black.

I’ve never been a man who had a problem who earning things. I don’t feel like anyone should just be given something. I’ve had to earn everything I’ve had in life and it hasn’t been easy. I’ve put in a lot of work…a lot of time to get what I have. If it’s not worth working for it’s not worth having. But one thing that really gets on my nerves is when I earn something and still don’t get it. That’s when I become pissed and me being pissed is not e pretty thing. People have to pay when I pissed. Pay with their asses being kicked and most of the time they aren’t the ones who is at fault. But just like I don’t have control over some things…neither do they. With that being said…Phantom you now have to pay. Don’t take it personal because it’s not totally against you. Once again a man is put into the squared circle with me and he doesn’t have a title. The USPW management doesn’t believe Baller deserves a title shot. And for that…Phantom I have to kick your ass.

Monday April 30, 2012…The Day After The PPV

(The scene opens up at Baller’s house. It’s early morning and he’s getting ready to drop his son off and then get started with his busy day. Baller has a very busy life and everyday includes numerous things to do but he always starts his day off with spending the morning with his family. As Baller gets ready in his room him and his girl share a few thoughts. Let’s tune in.)

Keita: I thought AJ was going to give you a tougher fight to be honest with you. I think the USPW fans were disappointed with that outcome. I mean not the fact that you won but it was one of the more dominated matches of the night.

Baller: Yeah I know. I don’t know if it was AJ or just me. I was on my game last night and even if AJ brought his “A” game, which he didn’t, I don’t think the outcome would have changed.

Keita: Yeah but still, AJ sucked.

Baller: Yeah he did.

Keita: Do you think the USPW is going to hold that against you?

Baller: What do you mean?

Keita: You’ve been kicking ass since you joined the fed and you still haven’t gotten a title shot at. I mean not one. Even if they didn’t give you a World Title shot they could have gave you some type of title shot. It’s almost like you haven’t proved your worth yet.

Baller: I can only do what they ask of me. Meaning I can only dominate those scheduled to face me. I went and talk to the owner and the GM after my match last night. I let them know my wishes. I guess we’ll see who they give me to face this week.

Keita: And if it’s not a title shot?

Baller: I’ll be pissed but what can I do. Sooner or later they won’t have a choice.

Keita: You have newcomers coming in and they’ve already been awarded with a title shot. If you ask me I think there’s a lack of respect there.

(Baller laughs a little but his smile quickly turns to a frown because maybe his girl is right.)

Baller: How can you not respect The Baller? How can you not respect greatness?

Keita: Maybe to them you’re not great. This isn’t the same management you’ve been under during your career. They might not know you to be great. I mean the fans now but maybe they don’t.

Baller: Only a fool would sleep on my greatness.

Keita: What I’m saying is you’re winning your matches to easily. It’s hard to notice what you’re bringing to the table because you’re dominating your matches.

Baller: What am I supposed to do…stoop to the level of my competition? I can’t help it if they don’t belong in the ring with me. I’ve been asking for tougher matches. I mean I want the damn champions. What else can I do?

(Just then Baller’s son, Troy Jr. enters the room.)

Jr: What you guys in here doing? There isn’t any breakfast on the table yet?

Baller: My bad little man. I was in here talking to Keita about my match last night.

Jr: Yeah you dominated.

Baller: Hopefully enough to make them give me a title shot in my next match.

Jr: Sorry but that didn’t happen.

Baller: What are you talking about?

Jr: The new card for the next Freedom has been posted.

(You can see the anger come over Baller’s face. He told…better yet he warned management that he wanted a title shot. His thoughts went in both their ears and right out the other.)

Keita: You’re kidding right?

Jr: No I’m dead serious. The next card has been posted and you’re not facing a champion.

Baller: Whom am I facing?

Jr: Phantom

Baller: Phantom? Are you serious? He hasn’t done anything since the old GWA closed its doors.

Jr: He was World Champion there though.

Keita: Yeah baby. Maybe this is the match you need to prove your worth. He’s been in World Title matches here in the USPW. If you dominate him they have no choice but to give you a title shot.

Baller: I thought that same thing when I faced AJ. I mean he had a shot at the World Title. I dominated him and here I have to once again prove myself to management. What kind of shit is that?

Keita: Baby nothing has ever been given to you. You know you have to work for everything. Look at this house…it wasn’t given to you. You earned everything in this place. That trophy case you have downstairs in the foyer…all them titles in it…you’ve earned all of those. When you have to out in work in order to get what you want it feels so much better. You and I both know that.

Baller: Yeah you’re right.

Keita: So don’t be upset about having to face Phantom. Look at it as another chance for you to get to prove your greatness. Beat all those lined up in front of you then beat the champion…whoever it is. You and I both know you can do it.

Jr: Yeah dad you can do it. They can’t keep what’s yours away from you for long. That title belongs to you and soon you’ll have it. THAT YOU CAN TAKE TO THE BANK!!

Monday, May 7, 2012…The Start of The Week

This is a huge week for me. I know I sound like a broken record but once again this week I get to take one more step towards my goal. I don’t think anyone has to go through as much as I do when it comes to getting what they want out of this business. I sit back week in and week out and watch clowns get title shots. I still to this day haven’t had one shot. Not even at a bullshit title. I warned management last week and this week I start to make examples each and every week until I get the shot I deserved. And no I’m not talking about making an example out of my opponent. Until management gives me what I want and deserve I’m going to start fucking shit up. Nothing is going to go as planned. THAT YOU CAN TAKE TO THE BANK!!

(Things pick up with Baller riding along in his custom made, special ordered, 2013 Audi A8. He’s talking on the phone and that’s where things pick up.)

Baller: I don’t know what the hold up is. I’ve done everything they’ve asked me to do.

Voice: That’s the thing. You’re doing what they want you to do. The probably think you’re a damn puppet. Do like we used to do back in the day. Do what you want and see where that goes.

Baller: Back in the day I had you guys. I can’t just go around making enemies…you feel me?

Voice: I hear what you’re saying but you have to do something. Week in and week out they’re giving you bums. I mean Phantom is a step up in competition but we both know he’s not on your level. Shit management even knows that. You destroyed AJ and if you do the same to Phantom…another guys who’s been in the World Title picture…how could the still deny you.

Baller: Believe me…they’ll find a way/

Voice: Maybe Brien and I need to come out of retirement. You know…come back and set things straight.

Baller: That would be nice but I’m not going to get my hopes up high. The two of you be faking so0me kind of terrible.

Voice: Well you never know.

Baller: Yeah ok.

Voice: Who is that new clown who signed with the fed?

Baller: We had a few new guys signs. Which one are you talking about?

Voice: A week or so ago I saw some clown on USPW television talking trash about how much money he had and how he was going to take over the USPW.

Baller: You’re talking about CJ Swift. He’s some clown who was running his mouth about shit and making himself sound like a fool. Everyone knows no one has as much money as The Baller and around here there is no such thing as buying what you want. I think he was trying to hype himself up…you know make a name for himself. He’s one of the guys from the fed USPW just brought out.

Voice: Is he a threat?

Baller: Hell no. Well to me he’s not.

Voice: He must be some kind f good. He got a title shot before you did.

Baller: He did but that didn’t mean shit. And if he wins that title he has to face me next. That’s never a good thing.

Voice: Well I think you need to make some noise this week at the show. I think management needs to see that they need to take you seriously. They’re acting as if you’re a joke. I think you need to show them a thing or two. As a matter of fact you need to go ahead and ride past the headquarters this week before the show and tell them exactly what you’re going to do.

Baller: That sounds like a plan. As a matter of fact I’m going to go ahead and do that right now. I don’t have shit to do today. Already got my workout in the morning and watched film on Phantom. I’m so ready for that match is ridiculous. Had damn near two weeks to prepare for that match. There’s no way I’m losing that. Let me get off this phone and call my girl. I need to let her know I’m going to be home a little later than expected.

Voice: I’ll be back in town today. I’m going to stop by the crib later on.

Baller: That’s a bet. Baller gets off the phone.

(The scene picks up about a half an hour later with Baller walking into the USPW headquarters. It just so happens that when he enter Frankie Image in standing at the front desk talking with the receptionists.)

Baller: You must be taking me as a joke.

(Frankie Image turns around and he looks like he’s seen a monster.)

Baller: Oh don’t worry. I didn’t come here to be violent. Just wanted to let you know that since you didn’t listen to what I had to say at the PPV things are going to get very violent at the show this week. If I can’t get what I want…well then you’re not going to get what you want which is a peaceful show.

Image: No need for all that.

Baller: There was no need for you to take me as a joke. Come Freedom you’re going to wish you never did.

Image: A threat?

Baller: No a promise so THAT YOU CAN TAKE TO THE BANK!!

(Scene fades to black with Baller leaving out the door and Image sitting there with a stuck look on his face.)
